Exploring style as a lived experience.
There are certain pieces I wear that make me smile. Not because they're particularly noteworthy, but because they feel familiar. Familiar in a way that spans years, often decades. I can see a thread running through every version of myself. Through childhood, into my teens, and onwards into adulthood. Subtle threads, woven unconsciously over time, creating a fabric entirely of their own.
There are different versions of ourselves that come to the fore throughout the day, like subtly moving through the gears of a car, each shift helping us embody the values we perceive to be important for the role of the moment.
There’s a subtle discomfort in starting over, a quiet rumbling in the small, everyday moments that begin to pinch. Over time, we become aware that something no longer fits. A mindset, a routine, a role, or even a version of ourselves. Somewhere along the way, we begin to feel the misalignment - like swimming against the tide.
It takes practice to recognise when something inside us has been inspired. At first, the difference between inspiration and impulse can feel almost indistinguishable. The difference is that inspiration is realised through your own lens, an awakening of something already present within you.
